Christian Dawid (D; clarinet)

is an internationally noted clarinetist, multi-instrumentalist and music-maker from Berlin. Trained classically, he has explored dozens of styles and genres and is most widely known for his work in Yiddish music and other East European styles. He runs Konsonans Retro and Trio Yas and has toured and/or recorded with artists such as Brave Old World, Budowitz, Arkady Gendler, The Other Europeans, Daniel Kahn, Ben Caplan, Michael Winograd and many more.

A dedicated and sought-after teacher of Yiddish music, Christian has conducted and conceptualised numerous workshops at international festivals and workshop academies, in Weimar, London, Paris, Montreal, Fürth, New York, Safed, Cracow, St Petersburg, Buenos Aires and many other places. He is the music coordinator of KlezKanada and regularly advises other international Jewish culture festivals.
